AutoZone is a leading aftermarket automotive replacement parts and accessories retailer and distributor. The story of AutoZone starts off with a wholesale grocery company called Malone & Hyde, Inc. The leading people at Malone & Hyde, Inc. had the motivation to create a chain of automotive parts to help people maintain their vehicles themselves. In their vision, these stores would be clean, well-organized with accessible products with great customer service just like other great supermarket chains. This vision became a reality with AutoZone in 1979. The first store was opened in Forrest City, Arkansas under the name of Auto Shack. Later, it was rebranded to AutoZone in 1987.
Since then, AutoZone has come a long way and it kept on growing and exploring new opportunities and entering new markets. Today, it has over 6,000 stores in the United States, Brazil, and Mexico. AutoZone has headquartered Memphis, Tennessee.
